Calling all members of the Pearlridge family to Uptown Center Court with their canned-food votes from Oct. 6 through 21!
On Oct. 6, teams of local architects and allied design and engineering professionals will put their building skills to the test as they creatively “canstruct” giant structures – each made entirely of several thousand cans of food – in AIA Honolulu’s 13th Annual Canstruction® competition at Pearlridge Center.
Members of the public are invited to participate in Canstruction® by voting for their favorite canned-food structures during the two weeks of display following build day. The Canstruction® structure that receives the most votes (one can of donated food equaling one vote – but only cans count!) during the exhibition will be named People’s Choice Award winner.
On Canstruction® build day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., local architects will lead keiki ages five to 12 in building a special structure in the Kids Can Corner with hundreds of cans donated for their use. Families are asked to please bring at least five (5) cans of food as a Hawaii Foodbank donation to join in the fun in the Kids Can Corner.
Completed structures will be on display for People’s Choice voting up to and including Saturday, Oct. 20. Please visit Canstruction® at Pearlridge Center and bring canned-food donations to support Hawaii’s hungry families!
Over the past 12 years, Canstruction® at Pearlridge Center has raised 377,042 pounds of critical canned food for the Hawaii Foodbank – enough for 296,883 meals for the hungry in our community. Let’s see how much our Pearlridge family CAN donate this year!
