Created by a fisherman as a tribute to his mentors and heroes, Uncle’s opened in 2008 as an unpretentious cafe for fresh fish and best-in-class seafood products. Over the years it grew to become a full-service restaurant with a bar and wine service open everyday for lunch and dinner. In 2018 Uncle’s opened its flagship location at Pearlridge Center with the same menu and philosophy in a larger space designed as a showcase for artifacts from the history of fishing in Hawaii.

The “Uncles”, says founder Bruce Johnson, “were hard to get to know, tenacious, humble, a bit kolohe – they could be rascals – but very honorable. They’re my heroes and they’re of all nationalities and ethnicities.
